Broch Beacon 1 is a sandstone carving.  It is a dialogue between the iron age concentric stone structures, brochs, found across the coasts and lands of Scotland and the ancient concentric stone structures left by the Chachapoyas – ‘People of the Clouds’ in the highlands of Peru.  As part of this carving, I have incorporated representative elements of the glass optics designed by Stevenson for his light houses.  These are based upon lighthouse optics which are on display in the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh.

This sculpture was exhibited in the  VIA Prize Show December 2018 – January 2019, at The Embassy of Brazil, London.  It is one of three works I selected for the Fresh Air Sculpture 2019 show.
